In readings, see card positions before reading?

There are so many readings, and i haven't used all of them, so it's hard to know exactly what a spread is reading FOR when the card's position doesn't pop up until after you've revealed the card.
An intermediary screen listing the card positions before you move on to the spread might help people decide if the spread is right for them.
Although most readers know the Celtic Cross, I'll use as an example.
You go into Readings, general, and see the name and basic form of the spreads and brief description. When you choose one and click into it, you see the same small image of the form but with each card numbered and the positions listed with those numbers below:
1 signifier ; 2 issue ; 3 fears ; 4 past ; 5 thoughts ; 6 future etc etc
Then a button that says "get reading" or something and goes to the screen where you click the cards to reveal them.
For unique spreads like the Major Arcana or any specific topic, it can help to know if a certain spread is going to give the reader the type of insight they're seeking.

Should be out with 1.50 - New version is going through phased release.
Currently 1% on iOS and 10% on android.
I
believe
if you really want to I think you can download the new release manually, but don't quote me on that. I think this one already got one unfavorable review, so there is the possibility of rethinking this pending more feedback.

Tina G. Well, i for one am excited. I have beta 1.45 but Google Play only has 1.43 listed for download :(
Tina G.
R Knaur: Ah, yeah -- I guess you can't manually download it then until it's 100% released. Sorry! :(

I got the new version and it is sooooooo great! Oh man, it ticks all the boxes my type-A heart wants: being able to know what spread i used from my journal, seeing the positions before i start, submitting decks!! This app was good before but I love these new features!
Tina G.
R Knaur: This really makes me happy -- thanks 🥹🥹🥹💖

in progress
Arriving hopefully next week. Thank you for feedback all! Some tweaks are made becuase in reality, things are messier than in the mockup, but hopefully still an improvement.

Okay, so I've been mullling this over the holiday break, and I am posting some crummy mockups of how this would work:
Don't skewer me for the wireframe, I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it.
It may be overboard, but I'd like create solutions that solve a lot of people's gripes instead of just one gripe at a time. The tradeoff is that it makes things complicated.
Feedback requested.
Benefits:
- Fulfills this request!
- Some folks are annoyed they ask the question after the reading, and want to ask the question before the reading
- Encourages people to try different decks
- Sometimes you want different options for every reading - sometimes I want to read with reversals and sometimes I don't, sometimes I want to read with majors only. These things are kind of rare to me, and I guess it doesn't really make sense to have it in the settings section to force me to change it back each time. Same for physical vs. digital readings. I dunno about you guys but I usuallydo digital readings here, but occasionally enter in longer physical readings that I find important.
- Reading settings becomes more of "default settings" instead of settings all the time.
Cons:
- If you know exactly what you want, it's an extra click.
- Change. Any somewhat big change at all will usually make some people really angry at me. But I'm hoping that this will make some non-obvious features very obvious instead of moving things or making it look like they're no longer available. Hopefully no death threats this time because it's VERY CLEAR that it's just an extra button click on the bottom of the page? Right???
- Too messy? Too complex?

Tina G.:
I really like this! Would the detail screen be visible after the cards are revealed?
And the settings at the bottom is inspired...I like different decks for different types of questions so that is amazing.
Personally extra clicks only about me if they're pointless.

Tina G.: I think the pros outweigh the cons here, personally.
As for complexity, I'd say that it's not that complex. For messiness, I wouldn't say it's messy, I'd say that the 'All' page is a bit overwhelming at first.
Overall, I'd be fine with this change. It would take some time to get used to for sure, but I think it will be a good change.

Tina G.:
I came to the forum to also request this change and found this post.
Looking at the wireframe it solves the exact issue I was having.
I feel that this only ends up being one extra click in the whole process which I feel is negligible considering the pros it brings.
Nothing in the wireframe feels complex or messy. Its also similar enough to the current app that it shouldnt be difficult to get the hang of for current users.
Love the work youre doing with the app and im excited to continue using it in my practice <3

I'm not sure I want to force users into another step before a reading every time, but a better experience may be to tap and hold to bring up a preview like what you mentioned. And you can let go to close the preview? Don't quote me on this, I'm pulling this idea out of my bum right now.

Tina G.: sure, tap & hold would be great. Just something before the cards start being revealed.
Or maybe if the positions were listed below the functional spread? That way you can analyze the full tableau & relationships between positions after all the cards are turned w/o having to click thru to each card again
